Drought and hot temperatures can also hurt the fish population in the nearby lakes and ponds.
Holt County Conservation agent Anthony Maupin says so far the Missouri Department of Conservation hasn't seen many reports of fish kills due to the weather.
Maupin says if the drought continues for an expanded period of time he anticipates seeing reports of fish kills on many of the area ponds.© Copyright, KXCV
