Missouri voters will be making a decision about religious freedoms when they go to the polls August 7th.  

Missouri Constitutional Amendment number two ensures citizens are free to express their religious beliefs, ensures that school children have the right to pray and acknowledge God voluntarily in their schools and ensures that all state public schools shall display the United States Bill of Rights. During a candidates forum in Maryville last night, Assistant Professor of Political Science at Northwest Missouri State University, Dr. Dan Smith, told voters most of what will be stated on the ballot are rights that are now included in the constitution. He recommends voters read the full amendment before voting on it.

Dr. Smith adds another portion of Amendment 2 that will not appear on the ballot deals with religious freedoms for prisoners. He says voters interested in reading the amendment can find it on the Missouri Secretary of State's website or can get a copy of the amendment from their county clerk's office.
