Missouri Western State University no longer tolerates tobacco use on campus.
Reports say that as of this morning the university's campus in St. Joseph is smoke-free. Administrators devised the policy last year and won approval from the university's governing board. President Bob Vartabedian signed off on the policy last October. There are no fines associated with smoking on campus now. But campus residents who don't follow the new smoke-free policy can be brought up to the judicial board. The Student Government Association has also designed informational cards to hand out to people they see using tobacco products on campus.
