ST. JOSEPH, MO (2011-07-08)
Missouri River flooding is prompting more tetanus vaccinations, this time in the St. Joseph area.
Health officials point out flood preparations as well as the cleanup in the coming months can increase the chances for puncture wounds and possible tetanus infections. It's recommended adults get boosters every 10 years and two locations are giving them now for free. The first is the Health Department in St. Joseph, they will be available there Monday through Friday from 8 until 11 and from 1 to 4. An immunization clinic has been set for next Tuesday at the Rushville Masonic Lodge, that runs from 4 to 6. Officials are asking you bring individual shot records if available.
