The 4th of July may be over, but the outdoor summer season has just begun.

That can mean sharing nature with biting and stinging bugs. Pat Giffin is the nurse manager at the emergency room at St. Francis Hospital in Maryville and suggests putting on bug sprays, but leaving off the perfume.

Giffin points out there are prescribed epi-pens that should be up to date for those allergic to bee stings, and there are also bite and sting its you can pick up for non-medical emergency encounters.
