About 20 rural post offices here in the Midwest corners could be closed and are included on the US Postal Service closure list.
Regional postmasters we spoke with referred us to a USPS spokesperson. District spokeswoman Valerie Welsch says the move toward rural closures is to adopt to changing times and emphasis on online services.
Included on the list of potential post office closures are, in Missouri: Clearmont, Clyde, Denver, Fillmore, Gentry, Guilford, Parnell, LaClede, Pickering, Rosendale, and Wheeling among others. In Iowa post offices in Coin, Braddyville, Shambaugh, Davis City, Diagonal, and Thurman could be closed. The service is considering changing some of these to have the most popular services still available within local businesses such as a grocery or pharmacy.© Copyright, KXCV
