Missouri Democratic senator Claire McCaskill is supporting the debt ceiling plan put forth by the so-called "Gang of Six".

The latest proposal calls for reducing the nation's deficit 4 trillion dollars over the next 10 years and raising taxes by one trillion dollars. Senator McCaskill says with this third major plan to be proposed over the last 2 weeks, she thinks Americans outside the Beltway aren't understanding why an agreement can't be reached.

Another plan cutting and capping spending, then proposing a balanced budget amendment to the constitution passed earlier this week in the house, but the president has promised to veto that plan.
