There's a reason it's called the dog days of summer.
Forecasters say summer heat is here to stay this week and that can be dangerous for pets. Lesley Patek is with the Chillicothe Animal Shelter and says owners should be especially aware about temperatures inside vehicles. She suggests shade and water but says one of the best tools a pet owner can have is a phone.
Patel also suggests haircuts for pets, especially the dark haired ones that absorb heat and at nay sign of distress, cool off your animal slowly and get them to a veterinarian.© Copyright, KXCV
