The Highway Patrol headquarters in St. Joseph is warning motorists troopers are cracking down on drivers not obeying flood closures.

The commanding officer at Troop H says there are two problems with drivers who ignore closure signs and drive into flooded areas, it violates state law, and places people in life-threatening situations. Authorities say not only those inside the vehicle be at risk, but it presents a life-threatening situation for first responders coming in to help.
