A unique summer camp coming up next week is being offered in Maryville.

But today is the deadline to sign your child up. It's for middle school children and incoming high school freshman and is a hands-on healthcare and science summer camp. Participants will practice basic first aid, CPR, fitness and nutrition, a science lab involving a preserved human specimen, and end with a mock trauma situation where campers will act as the healthcare providers. Jeanette Gragle with the Northwest Missouri Area Health Education Center says it's important exposure for kids this age.

The camp will run from 9 in the morning until 4 in the afternoon next Wednesday and Thursday at the Northwest Technical School in Maryville. To sign up before 5 tonight you can call Jeanette at area code 816-271-6769.
