ST. JOSEPH, MO (2011-07-05)
The head of our region's food bank says federal funding of the food stamp program should not be on the chopping block during budget negotiations the next few weeks.
St. Joseph's 2nd Harvest Executive director David Davenport says hunger shouldn't be a partisan issue, but a political one. He says food stamps in our region don't just effect those receiving them, but impact entire communities on the economic level.
Davenport says the majority of residents in our region receiving food assistance aren't even of working age, they are children and the elderly.© Copyright, KXCV
