This summer's historic Missouri River Flooding has hundreds of thousands of acres of valuable cropland underwater.
The US Department of Agriculture estimates a half million acres could be lost in Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, and the Dakotas. Professor of Agricultural economics Ron Plain at the University of Missouri predicts while the losses are painful, the impact on the total American farm market should be negligible.
Besides acreage losses, barge and train shipments of commodities have been disrupted in the Missouri River Valley.© Copyright, KXCV
