CHILLICOTHE, MO (2011-07-01)
More changes in Chillicothe.
The city council is currently reviewing applications for a new city manager, and has now also voted to terminate Chillicothe's transportation director Hugh Musselman. The decision was made in closed session and elected officials aren't saying what prompted the change. Assistant street superintendent Leroy Snidow has been appointed the interim street superintendent until the position is filled. In other action the city has also agreed to start offering rural fire protection. Residents outside the city limits but within a 10 mile radius of the city will have fire protection through the city of Chillicothe, which has also offered to buy the equipment of the rural fire protection group. That service to out-of-town citizens will be offered through March of next year. After that homeowners can contract with the city for a rate of 35 cents per hundred dollars of assessed valuation.
