MARYVILLE, MO (2010-07-05) The food bank serving 19 counties in Northwest Missouri says donations are needed in busy summer months.

Second Harvest in St. Joseph continues giving out food for a variety of programs targeting children in our communities.

Specifically, they're keeping kids fed even when the free or reduced lunches available at area schools aren't there because of the summer break.

Rachel Graves is with Second Harvest and says financial donations are almost more helpful than boxes of food.

She adds food going to children meet specific nutrition guidelines... so Second Harvest can distribute the proper food with the help of financial contributions.
