NE Kansas Job Growth

Wayman

Hiawatha, Ks. (2010-07-22) The Hiawatha City Commission is considering another round of funding for the Northeast Kansas Enterprise Facilitation group.

The commission heard from Janet Miller of the group at the last meeting.

In asking for 25-hundred dollars from the City of Hiawatha- the amount it's given the group in the past... Miller ran down some of the accomplishments of N-E-K enterprise facilitation.

As of may the group has had 6 hundred clients and helped 70 businesses.

They estimate they've created or retained 208 jobs in the five-county Northeast Kansas region, which include 15 businesses in Brown county.

The Hiawatha Commission says it's looking at the budget before supporting the group with the 25-hundred dollar annual subsidy.
