Mound City, MO (2010-07-22) The Mound City Board of Aldermen gives back a federal grant after it's determined the money just won't be needed.
For months Mound City has investigated installing new weather warning sirens- and those will still be put in.
However, the city received a U-S-D-A grant that requires a 45 percent match from the city.
It also received another federal grant that includes just a 25 percent match from Mound City that will cover the 26 thousand dollar cost of installing the two sirens.
The Aldermen voted unanimously to return the higher-matching grant, since the other will cover costs.
In other action the Mound City Board will have a bid opening for city hall renovations on August third.
