Savannah, MO (2010-07-21) A major 6 week Interstate bridge project near Savannah is delayed until at least tonight because of the weather.
Crews were supposed to start on the work last night, but rain postponed it.
They'll be closing traffic on the northbound bridge of Business 71 or Highway 59.
Traffic will have to drive on the southbound lane of the bridge via temporary crossovers.
Interstate 29 traffic under the bridge will be shifted starting at 7 tonight to accommodate the removal of the northbound bridge deck.
One lane traffic in each direction on U-S 59 or Business 71 near Savannah will remain open throughout the project.
Tonight's start, however, is also dependent on the weather today.
The contract for the project- estimated to cost 1-point-8 million dollars- was awarded to Loch (lock) Sand and Construction of Maryville.
