Water Group

Wayman

Savannah, MO (2009-07-17) It's a new era in Northwest Missouri…one that could impact the region for decades to come.

Yesterday 8 groups officially formed the "Great Northwest Wholesale Water Commission"- a new group that will try and spearhead a regional water distribution grid.

The group is the creation of a regional steering committee that's been working since 2006 on sustainable drinking water for all fo the Northwest Missouri counties.

Harlan Higgenbotham (hig-in-both-im) was the chair of the original group and says the project goes well beyond supplying water.

The 8 charter members of the new regional commission are the City of Albany, Water Supply Districts 1 and 2 of Andrew County, Buchanan County District 2, and the cities of Cameron, Maysville, Plattsburg, and Savannah.
