St. Joseph, MO (2009-07-29-09) The machinery company in Elwood, Kansas that laid off workers earlier now says those are permanent.

Snorkel manufactures hydraulic lifts and other equipment used in the construction industry.

Snorkel was bought by a British firm about 3 years ago and company officials say the poor economic conditions that don't appear to be improving forced the firings.
