MARYVILLE, MO (2009-07-21) A resident from our region is making a big difference overseas.
Andrea Tappmeyer spent most of her life in Maryville and is now volunteering in Nicaragua with the Peace Corp.
As part of her work with the program, Tappmeyer has designed a cultural exchange project to bring Nicaraguan students to the United States for classes to help further their English and Leadership skills.
Andrea's father Steve Tappmeyer says right now finances are the biggest obstacle for the project.
Tappmeyer believes the littlest contributions can make the biggest difference in a project like this and says he hopes members of the community will volunteer their time and resources.
