St. Joseph, MO (2009-07-14) Missouri's Governor comes to the windiest part of the state to talk energy bills.
Governor Nixon was in St. Joseph yesterday for the ceremonial signing of a new energy law.
Under the new legislation rates can be increased to offset the costs utility companies accrue when transitioning to greener forms of energy.
Nixon says the goal is for the state to generate its own forms of energy.
The Governor also fielded questions about the reports the Tour of Missouri Bike Tour may be on the budgetary chopping block.
Nixon has frozen 1 and a half million dollars for the tour, which created about 60 million in economic revenue the last two years.
He said his administration is still running the numbers and has yet to reach a final decision on the tour.
