MARYVILLE, MO (2009-07-24) The Distinguished Lecture Series at Northwest Missouri State has been announced and this year's series includes some very important people.
The series begins on September 30th with Erin Gruwell.
The story of Gruwell's work at a rough and racially divided school was portrayed by Academy Award winner Hilary Swank in "Freedom Writers."
Following Gruwell on November 16th will be Philanthropist Stephen Paletta who was chosen as "The Biggest Giver" on Oprah's Big Give.
Former U.S. Representative, NBC News Analysist, and Chairman for the Deomocractic Leadership Council, Harold Ford Jr. will speak on February 3rd.
Mercedes Ramirez Johnson, an active member of Northwest Missouri State's Foundation Board, will speak on March 1st and Explorer and Filmaker Celine Consteau will visit the University on April 14th.
