MARYVILLE, MO (2009-07-03) An update on a story we recently brought you-
Two thousand dollars in two days.
That's the take by the new Nodaway Humane Society at a recent yard sale fundraiser.
The organization is experiencing a funding crisis with the recent pull-out of the county helping to fund the Animal Shelter.
The group is forced to charge those dropping off animals at the shelter to cover the 10 days of care- the window organizers hope it will take until the animal is adopted.
The only exception to charging for animals is with government entities that have a contract with the shelter to take care of strays.
A Humane Society spokesman says every dollar of the recent fundraiser will go directly into helping the Animal Shelter.
