Gilman City, MO (2009-07-09) A Federal Grand Jury indicts 7 people for allegedly running a pit bull dog-fighting ring out of Harrison County.
Federal prosecutors allege the 7 defendants bet thousands of dollars on at least 3 fights earlier this year at the Bottcher Farm in Gilman City- that's just south of Bethany.
Indicted are Cris bottcher, along with Rick
Hihath (high-hath) of St. Joseph, as well as Julio Reyes of Tecumseh Nebraska and several Iowa residents.
Prosecutors say some dogs involved in the fights were burned, shot, or thrown in a river and others did not receive proper care for their wounds.
The 7 indictments are among a sweep by federal agencies yesterday which agents raided 4 Missouri kennels, seizing about 150 pitt bulls.
