MARYVILLE, MO (2009-07-01) Nodaway County resident Deb Hull received a grant through the Heartland Foundation, to teach about diabetes to students.
Diabetes which can lead to new blindness, kidney failure, and non-traumatic leg amputation is considered an epidemic.
Throughout this last school year, Deb has visited every elementary school in Nodaway County to teach about diabetes and its prevention.
Deb says it started with a visit to her son's classroom.
This grant allows Hull to continue teaching about diabetes in Nodaway County High Schools, and to create a partially animated D-V-D that will be distributed to every third through sixth grade classroom in Holt and Worth County with a copy for each child to take home.
