MARYVILLE, MO (2009-01-26) State investigators have completed the financial audit of Andrew county.
Auditors found although the county has no investments, it should adopt a policy as required by state law.
It also found the county overspent in 8 budget areas in both 2006 and 2007, including the Sheriff's civil fees, the Sheriff's reserve, election services, the cemetery and other areas.
Officials are also recommending Andrew county make the most of electronic scanning and storage after a previous county treasurer reportedly threw out 20 large containers of items and a computer was discovered missing.
Other suggestions include upgrading the employee files, creating more accurate records of invoices and other financial statements, and reviewing for accuracy amounts in the general revenue and special road and bridge funds.
