A project looking to place an electric power transmission line through the Midwest offers area residents opportunities to learn more.
The Midwest Transmission Project has potential routes planned from Sibley, Missouri to Nebraska City, Nebraska. Six public open houses, Monday January 21st through Thursday January 31st, offer area residents the opportunity to learn more and speak directly with project planners. Media spokesperson for the Midwest Transmission Project Bill Musgrave says the project's purpose is to improve the overall regional power grid.
Musgrave says the approximately 400 million dollar project will offer 50 to 70 construction jobs once a final route is decided. An open house on Tuesday January 22nd from 3pm to 7pm will be held in Maryville at the American Legion.
