Guernsey Files Gun Bill

After a school shooting last month in Connecticut, the Obama administration is looking at ways to tighten federal gun laws, but at least one Missouri lawmaker says those new rules shouldn't apply in the Show-Me State.

State Representative Casey Guernsey, a Republican from Harrison County, wants to make it a felony for any government official to enforce federal gun laws that restrict semi-automatic weapons and ammunition.

Guernsey says gun control advocates shouldn't use the Connecticut shooting to make their political point.Representative Jacob Hummel, the leader of the House Democrats, disagrees and says federal law trumps Guernsey's bill.Hummel says he thinks Missouri should tighten its gun laws to require more background checks for gun buyers.
