Bearcat women defeat Lincoln while the men fall to the Blue Tigers Wednesday night

The Northwest Missouri State women's basketball team after trailing by one at halftime, outscored Lincoln 50-32 in the second half on their way to a 77-60 victory over the Blue Tigers.

The Bearcats led by as many as 28 points in the second half. Northwest head women's basketball coach Mark Kellogg says his team committed too many turnovers in the first half.

The Bearcats had three players in double-figures...led by Meridee Scott and Tember Schechinger with 15 points apiece...Annie Mathews posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. The Northwest women improve to 9-5 overall and 3-3 in the MIAA...Lincoln falls to 7-8 and 2-5.

In the men's game...The Bearcats trailed by as much as 12 points in the second half before mounting a late comeback...only to fall short 70-65. Northwest head men's basketball coach Ben McCollum after the game was frustrated with the play of his team.

The Bearcats had three players in double-figures led by Dillon Starzl with 17 points...Lyle Harris came off the bench and scored 10 points in the final three minutes of the game and Alex Sullivan added nine points. The Bearcat men fall to 11-4 overall and 4-2 in the conference, Lincoln improves to 3-14 and 2-5. Up next for Northwest will be a trip to Edmond, Oklahoma Saturday for a doubleheader with Central Oklahoma. Gametime for the women is 1:30 and the men 3:30.
