The Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety and the Missouri Department of Transportation have teamed up to promote seat belt usage among teenage drivers.

Customer Relations Manager with MoDot, Melissa Black says one of their efforts is "the Annual Battle of the Belt" competition among area high schools

Participating schools conduct two surprise seat belt checks to measure student seat belt use before and after an educational campaign. For third year in a row, Osborn High School won the Northwest Region's award for Highest Overall Seat Belt usage achieving 100 percent. Cainsville won for Most Improved Seat Belt Use increasing from 47 percent to 65 percent.
