Insurance Outlook

Wayman

ST. JOSEPH, MO (2012-01-26)

Federal USDA officials continue visiting northwest Missouri, assessing levee rebuilding and what that means for crop insurance premiums moving forward.

USDA undersecretary Michael Scuse just returned to Washington from a trip to St. Joseph. He says his officers are working closely with the US Army Corps to see the level of progress on rebuilding the levee, which he says will determine which crop producers will be eligible for insurance this upcoming growing season.

Secretary of agriculture Tom Vilsack is set to be in the St. Joseph area this weekend as part of the ongoing work with flood recovery.
