An organization releases a second-hand smoke study for St. Joseph.

"Clean Air St. Joe" reports levels of particulate matter in 18 hospitality establishments in St. Joseph from June to December of last year. Clean Air St. Joseph Coalition member Joyce Morrison says the university of Missouri Columbia's school of medicine found many of the levels to be unhealthy.

Morrison adds the clean air St. Joseph Coalition wants to persuade residents to adopt policies that prohibit smoking in public places. She says such policies would be beneficial to public health, notably by reducing heart attacks.
