MARYVILLE, MO (2011-01-28) Several northwest Missouri high schools are named winners in a state competition targeting students and reminding them to buckle up.
136 schools participated in MoDOT's "Battle of the Belt" challenge which had schools launching 2 surprise seat belt checks to measure student use before and after an educational campaign. They also produced a 30 second video commercial. In our region Osborn High School won the Northwest Regional Blueprint Coalition's Award for the highest overall seat belt use achieving 100% usage. North Nodaway Junior and Senior High School won the award for most improved seat belt use in the before and after checks. Both schools will receive $350 for future seat belt educational programs at the school. Maryville High School was a bronze, or third place, winner in the competition.
