ST. LOUIS, MO (2011-01-12) Two northwest Missouri lawmakers are spending this afternoon at in-depth discussions on how to move the state forward in tough budget times.
It's part of the "Rebooting Government" initiative Missouri lawmakers are participating in. Senators have been broken up into different study groups immersing themselves in 7 critical issues facing the state. Today, St. Joseph senator Rob Schaaf will be learning about and discussing social programs. And Savannah senator Brad Lager will be in the tax structure and economic development forum. Senator Robin Jones is from the St. Louis area and calls the study sessions "A New Day" for bipartisanship at Missouri's capitol. Lawmakers are expected to issue reports next week on this week's series of meetings.
