MARYVILLE, MO (2011-01-17) The numbers are in and of nearly 300 million dollars in state loans made to Missouri farmers last year, a large portion of went to producers here in north Missouri.
Documents from the state treasures office show 164 loans from the state's "Linked Deposit Program" went to farms and small businesses in northwest Missouri last year impacting 162 jobs and 131 farmers. Those loans totaled just more than 18 million dollars. Missouri's Linked Deposit Program offers low-interest rates to urge development in the state. The treasurer's office estimates about $294,000 in interest were saved in northwest Missouri farms and businesses using the program.
