LINN COUNTY, IA (2011-01-27) A Linn county man is life-flighted in serious condition after authorities say he shot himself during an arrest attempt.

The Missouri Highway Patrol says a Sheriff's deputy was serving the warrant on 31 year old Scott Robinson at his house north of St. Catherine, that's about 4 miles east of Brookfield. Investigators say it was a misdemeanor arrest warrant for passing bad checks, and when the deputy was making the arrest, Robinson drew out a loaded handgun from his waistband and shot himself. The life flight eagle helicopter flew Robinson to the university hospital in Columbia. The shooting remains under investigation by the patrol's drug and crime control division.
