Kansas City, MO (2011-01-10) Several north Missouri communities are the focus of a public hearing tonight in Kansas City.
The Missouri Housing Development Commission holds the hearing and is considering proposals fron across the state for funding of new and remodeled housing. In our region, this includes the proposed "Southview Townhomes" in Maryville which calls for nearly 50 new 2 and 3 bedroom apartments. In Savannah, approved funding will go to the Laverna Senior Apartments, more than 50 1 and 2 bedroom apartments. Four projects in St. Joseph are being considered, including rehabilitation of 108 units at the Village East Towers. And in Chillicothe the proposed Grand River Estates would create 72 one and two bedroom apartments. This evening's state commission meeting is gathering public comment on the proposed developments before members decide on giving state funding for each project.
