MARYVILLE, MO (2011-01-26) Governor Jay Nixon says the budget he outlined last week is "Just Right" despite complaints from both sides of the aisle.
K through 12 and higher education as well as the state workforce will take hits, enraging some fellow democrats. Republicans say the budget proposal doesn't have enough cuts. Nixon is dismissing the criticism, saying the 300 million dollars of cuts in his proposed budget plus an additional 1.8 billion in cuts since January 2009 put Missouri on a sound financial footing. Nixon continues to press for one of his budget priorities expanding the eligibility for scholarships to the state's community colleges.
