MARYVILLE, MO (2011-01-14) Presidents from Northwest Missouri State in Maryville, North Central in Trenton, and Missouri Western in St. Joseph met with governor Nixon this week.
They discussed a wide range of topics including possible state budget cuts to Missouri colleges and the impact on families and tuition. Northwest president Dr. John Jasinski says at the heart of the governor's discussion is collaboration among a wide variety of stakeholders tied to our colleges and universities. Jasinski says the governor is drawing connections between higher educational attainment and Missouri's work force development and employment rates. Yesterday the governor announced an increase in the amount of scholarship money college students will be eligible for under the state's "Access Missouri" program.
