MARYVILLE, MO (2009-01-20) Northwest Missouri State in Maryville takes a step closer to finding a new leader.
The presidential search committee recently met to hear from consultants helping with finding candidates for the position, opening after doctor Dean Hubbard announced his retirement.
Kenny Daugherty is with the consulting firm Jon McRae and has been on campus several times now to understand the culture and who the university is hoping to find.
He says this week he hopes to place ads in higher education journals and other publications to get the word out.
He also says they're even looking for those who don't know they might be a good fit.
Daugherty hopes to narrow a national field to 7 or 8 candidates to fly into the region- possibly Kansas City- for interviews…and then narrow that to 2 or 3 candidates for campus visits before choosing a new president in April.
