Local Census Importance

Wayman

MARYVILLE, MO (2010-1-25) If all goes to plan, regional residents will be getting census forms in their mailbox in about 2 weeks.

But local officials are promoting the fact funding for the next several years could depend on if you fill out the census. Sheila Smail is the city clerk for Maryville. She and others have been attending training sessions and plan a series of visible, out-in-the-community promotions to remind citizens how much their future depends on participating in the census. Smail adds for the first time in history, census mailings and takers will not be asking for social security numbers this year, to help make the process identitiy-theft free.
