MARYVILLE, MO (2009-01-13) The Northwest Regional Council of Governments is working with the state to land thousands of grant dollars in our areas.
The reason? To purchase storm warning sirens for 14 townships across Northwest Missouri.
The money is part of a USDA development grant.
The council is also asking for grant money from the state Emergency Management Agency.
One community's siren is estimated to cost around 24 thousand dollars.
If the federal money is used that means the community would also have to match a little more than 13 thousand.
