MARYVILLE, MO (2009-01-12) As classes start back up, colleges and university's continue waiting to see what lawmakers will do to their budgets.
The state has asked for budget-cut scenarios from all the state-funded schools… ranging from 10 to 25 percent cuts.
Northwest Missouri State University President Doctor Dean Hubbard is predicting a 10 percent cut for the Maryville institution.
He says state revenue is down just 15 percent right now and higher education has already been cut to the bone by slim budgets in 2001 and other years.
He says regardless of finances, Northwest will continue putting their students first.
Hubbard thinks Missouri colleges will know within the next 2 weeks how much money the state will withhold from higher education budgets.
