ST. JOSEPH, MO. (2010-1-18) 139th Airlift Wing of the Missouri Air National Guard based in St. Joseph hasn't gotten the call to help Haiti yet but command is watching the situation carefully.
A spokeswoman for the Missouri National Guard tells us the C-130 airplanes at Rosecrans base in St. Joseph would be one of the first to be called up should Missouri soldiers be requested to help Haitian releif efforts. But late last week planes with aid had to circle for 3 hours and some were turned away because of limited space at the Port-Au-Prince airport. The spokeswoman says they're on unofficial standby to wait on the request to bring planes down.
