Farmland Assessment

Wayman

MISSOURI STATE (2010-01-14) Missouri GOP lawmakers say they'll oppose a recent decision to reassess property values for farmland in Missouri.

The recommendation by the State Tax Commission would raise the productive value of Missouri's best agricultural land by 29%, while lowering pastureland and other less productive lots by 25%. Cal Durham is a Northern Missouri farmer who says he'll be negatively impacted by the decision. The State Tax Commission disagrees saying it's been 15 years since land values have been updated. The new reassessed values will take effect next January 1st, unless lawmakers vote to reject them by early March.
