MARYVILLE, MO (2009-02-09) A group of Northwest Missouri State students are helping to shape the future of the US military this week.

They're at Fort Leavenworth the next several days participating in the command and general staff college spring exercise.

About 4 hundred military officers spend an intense 3 days with a computer-simulated war game, practicing logistics, coordination, and working with fictional local populations.

The students from Northwest in Maryville are acting as embeded journalists, each writing a newspaper article and producing a TV story about the campaign.

Doctor Doug Sudhoff is the liason between the student journalists and military.

He says the exercise helps both groups.

The military will use the student journalist's stories to de-brief after their war game exercise is over.
