4 Day Schools
MARYVILLE, MO (2009-02-26) Legislation allowing school districts to shorten the amount of days they're in session moves a step closer to passage.
The bill would help our rural school districts by shortening the school week to 4 days as long as the state mandated amount of hours are met.
For former school superintendent Maynard Wallace of Thornfield Missouri, the bill is about local control.
Opponents argue moving to a 4 day school week is just about saving transpiration costs and could hurt education in the show-me state.
The bill's sponsor says he's had nearly a hundred school districts contact him to learn more about he proposed law.
It faces one more vote in the house before moving to the senate.
