Missouri Governor Jay Nixon made 8.4 million dollars available for higher education institutions following the release of the state's January 2013 general revenue report yesterday.
With the new funding for higher education, Northwest Missouri State University secured 291 thousand, 799 dollars, and neighboring Missouri Western University will receive 207 thousand, 954 dollars. Truman State University is in line to receive an additional 398 thousand dollars. The funding is a result of continued improvement in general revenue collections, which grew by 18.4 percent last month compared to January 2012. Year to date revenue collections have increased 9.5 percent compared to last year.
