From coast to coast, the nation’s plants, fish and wildlife are facing challenges because of a changing climate.

The National Wildlife Federation's report highlights regional cases. In Iowa, fish are dying by the thousands from drought. Birds and butterflies are altering their breeding seasons and migrations as plants flower and produce seed at new times. N-W-F senior scientist Amanda Staudt says it’s all happening faster than was anticipated.

Staudt says in places like Iowa, spring is arriving about two weeks earlier, on average.Staudt says steps should be taken to slow emissions of carbon pollution, and to help wildlife prepare for the types of changes that we’re not going to be able to avoid as the planet warms.
