Lawson

Maryville, MO (2013-02-04)

11 Northwest Missouri State University students affiliated with the Northwest Missouri State University Baptist Student Union had an opportunity to assist in the Hurricane Sandy relief effort over winter break.

During the week of December 16th, the Northwest students joined more than 400 other college student volunteers on Staten Island, New York where they slept in heated tents and worked with tools donated by the North American Mission Board. Junior Organizational Communications major, Jennifer McCoy, says the work included extensive house repair projects.

McCoy says favorite part of the trip for her was the opportunity to share their faith with the home owners on Staten Island. The students received national attention on Fox News for their philanthropy and represented the over 400 other volunteers in an interview on 'Fox & Friends'.
